This is a great contest. It’s very friendly to all writers and worth entering, even if you don’t win the grand prize! I won an honorable mention in the personal essay/memoir category a few years ago. I was pleased with the prize–a certificate and a booklet with the names of the various levels of winners included. And it all came in a nice envelope, which was very exciting to receive in the mail! I would encourage each person to send in her work. You just never know!

Oh yes, I also wanted to mention–the certificate, which is printed with your name and the title of your award-winning entry right on it, also functions as an impressive and fun addition to one’s list of writing credits and resume! If anyone is even half-tempted to send something in to the contest, take advantage of the late-entry deadline and do it!
