Writer Mama Back-to-School Giveaway: Da Rules

Writer Mama Fall 2007 Daily Giveaway Tiny BadgeThese rules revised AGAIN on September 2nd at 10:15 a.m. PST, please reread!

Please post any questions about the rules in the comments and I will be sure to answer them within the rule description, so everyone benefits. 🙂

1. You must comment to the post that describes the daily prize(s) you want to win, in order to be entered into the drawing for that day. No exceptions. Please be sure to comment to the correct post. The comment link is located just under the post title. Your comment will be posted after it is approved (usually within a few hours after you post unless I am sleeping).

2. You may comment only once per day (and therefore be entered to win once per day). But you may comment every day, for sure. If you make a spelling or grammatical error in your post, just let it go. Don’t comment twice to correct it. Not necessary since winners are selected by random drawing.

3. All comments must answer the question of the day, which will be posted every day with the giveaway item(s). In other words, no drive-by commenting. As a writing instructor, I could not resist a “teaching opportunity,” so all questions will relate to discovering more about ourselves as writers. However, answering the questions will only take a few moments out of your busy day, so thanks for being thoughtful.

4. Comment to win beginning on September 1st at 00:01 a.m. PST and continue each day for 30 days for maximum chances to win. Each day’s drawing closes at midnight (12:00) PST. The winner is chosen by random drawing the next day.
5. Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery of your item. Some items shipped directly from the author, some shipped from elsewhere, some are e-products. Prizes will only be shipped to United States locations.

6. There are three (3) ways to win:

a. WIN THE DAILY PRIZE OR PRIZES:  You may be selected as the day’s winner through a random drawing held from the pool of folks who comment for the listed items each day during September. Only posts that answer the day’s question will be considered. Your post must be between 50-300 words or it will not be approved.

b. INSPIRE AND ENCOURAGE FELLOW WRITER MAMAS: You can be selected as one of ten most inspirational contest participants for the month by sharing your writing and publishing success stories and tips right in your comments. So go ahead, inspire us with your posts! The ten most inspiring writers selected on October 1st will each win a signed copy of Writer Mama, How to Raise a Writing Career Alongside Your Kids. (You do not need to be a writer mama to win, though it’s a good idea to remember that you are writing for an audience of writer mamas.)

c. TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS: Invite others to post in the giveaway (and mention that YOU invited them in their comment) and you are entered to win a one-hour writing career phone consult with Christina Katz. The person who is mentioned as referring the most participants throughout the month will win this grand prize. (If you don’t travel in a circle of writer mama friends yet, you can always ask your mom friends who don’t write to send their mom friends who do write and mention your name.) Phone consult winner will be selected on October 1st.

Announcement: There will be no Writer Mama e-zine this month because of the giveaway. Next issue of the Writer Mama e-zine will announce the winners of all prizes including second and third places in the Writer Mamas (or Papas) Essay contest for Writer’s Digest magazine.

Hope the giveaway is as fun for you as it has been for me so far. 🙂

I am sooooo excited! Can I get my writer mama blog added to your list? It’s “Round the Clock.”

    Thanks!

These prizes are so fantastic that I’ve no doubt many of us will post often in September. Just curious — what happens if the same person is selected by random drawing multiple days in a row? Do you have a limit on how many books someone can win?

Hello! I am excited by this give-a-way..there are so many resources, I will enter daily. But as to the ‘invite your friends’, this seems to assume that your friends are writers… currently I have no writer friends. What do I do? Invite non-writers? I want to ‘fully particapate’.

btw, got my first article published in the August Issue of Guideposts Magazine!

The rules are easy…which is a plus! I will surely check in every day.

Sounds intriguing and exciting, but I don’t understand how to participate each day. Like, what exactly am I supposed to do?
    Thanks!

Wow. No, seriously, wow. I’m sitting here waking up while the kids drink their chocolate milk (because it is the end of summer and all sugar rules have been dumped….somewhere. the creek maybe) and I stumbled on this website and….wow. Now I have a completely new site to obsessively check. How fun!

    Thanks for doing this.

    I love the website!!!!

wow!!! Sounds like fun. However, I’m not a Writer Mama but a Writer Grandmother. Am I eligible to participate in all the give-a-ways?

Since I’m here already, I would like to subscribe to Mama E-zine; may I?

I am not a blogger but I sure would like to write a children’s book one day. I am a flash fiction writer with high ambition to publish a children’s book — one day, that is!

Hello! I think this whole contest is a great way for mama writers to dialogue with each other. I am DETERMINED to get my book of inspirational motherhood poetry published this year. In between school trips, kids’ activities and just simply MAMA FATIGUE after running my own separate consulting business from home as well…I sure could use a little inspiration. I know there is time in the day to write — even if it’s 3 am. I am writing now. Perhaps I should be working on my book. But I felt you all were MUCH MORE IMPORTANT so here I am.

But I am agreeing with another writer above — I’m not sure of how to get started. I must “comment to the post that describes the daily prize I want to win.” Hmmmmm I’m commenting to the first comment screen that came up. But I’m not sure where the list of daily prizes is. I am totally game for this — how do I get started?

Thanks so much for this awesome contest!
    Jen

yeah this sounds great! but i couldn’t find where to post… just a bit confused! and curious as to how… thanks!

Just curious about something. I noticed some mamas have commented twice in one day, with exactly the same message. (I’m sure just a slip of the hand) But how does this affect the random drawing, if your name is in there more than once?

I just logged on to read the rules and have missed some goodies. Hope to enter these last few days of the month!

    Cheers,
